Give up the Soda!
Did you know that only half a can of
So it should come as no surprise if you’ve gained many pounds in the past year, and now is the time to start monitoring the amounts and types of drinks that you’re feeding your body.
Excess sugar is as evil as having too much sodium, trans and saturated fats, or calories, and anything with high sugar levels should be on your list of “foods to avoid”. Every year, hundreds of thousands of people die worldwide due to sweetened beverage consumption. Give up the soda if you don’t wish to be part of some scary statistics soon.
Diabetes
Unfortunately, millions of people are suffering from diabetes due to a high sugar diet. To give you a clear (and frightening) picture, a diabetic’s urine is so high in sugar that it can be turned into whiskey. Researchers suggest that sugar may have a direct association with diabetes.
They actually discovered that high sugar in a population’s diet was linked to increased rates of diabetes, and it had nothing to do with obesity rates. This only means that there are other factors that lead to diabetes besides obesity and that sugar seems to play a huge role.
Genetic Sugar Addiction
Sugar addiction is a real thing, but sometimes, it’s not you, it’s your genetics! Studies revealed that people who had genetic alterations in the hormone ghrelin consumed more sugar throughout their lives. So you may actually be right if you’ve ever said: “I think I’m addicted to sugar!”
Ghrelin is responsible for telling your brain that you’re hungry, so according to researchers, when your ghrelin production is genetically affected, your sweet tooth (or neurological reward system) is also affected.
