We, Americans are known to purchase many health and dieting supplements because we believe that they will help us be healthier, but in fact, our bodies don’t do anything except urinate them out because they are not useful, or worse, they put us at risk of many health issues.
The majority of health experts agree that the best way to get the vitamins and nutrients our bodies need is by consuming all types of fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, and some grains. Other than that, we are only wasting our money down the drain.
#1 – Beta Carotene
In 2013, the Journal of the American Medical Association published a study discussing the dangers of Beta-Carotene, it claimed that antioxidant supplements, such as Vitamin E, Beta-Carotene, and large doses of Vitamin A can be very dangerous.
Plus, if you are a smoker, then this health supplement increases your chances of getting lung cancer by 24%. So, think twice before you buy this supplement because it can do more harm than good.
#2 – Chromium
Chromium may be beneficial when it comes to balancing our blood sugar and protecting it from diabetes. But, this supplement may harm us as well. According to an Australian study, chromium supplements may increase your risks for getting certain kinds of cancers.
In order to benefit from it without harming yourself, you can eat other natural supplements like potatoes, beans, and any other fresh vegetables regularly.
#3 – Fish Oil
For the past decades, people have been consuming fish oil uncontrollably after finding out that it is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which help to decrease the risk for any heart problem.
The thing is there is no evidence proves that fish oil in the form of a pill is providing a better heart health, especially that Food and Drug Administration is not authorized to review health supplement products before they are marketed, which means consumers have to be cautious about depending on them for health.
