Giving birth is definitely a great joy and a dream that all women of the world wish to experience one day! After all becoming a mother and being the reason behind which a beautiful and angelic face comes to this world is just incredible and one of the greatest blessings.
So, we all without exception tend to question how the woman feels to have the first baby kick and how she is able to shower her babies with much love and affection despite the pain she goes through during labor.
But how about the emerging infant? Of course, the baby won’t be able to remember his first experiences or tell us about his first cry or first breath.
However, there are, in fact, some things about our first moments that are very simply known or can be speculated upon.
#1 – Your First Pee After Birth Might Look Like Green, Red, Orange, Or Even A Pixie-Dust
You might be surprised, but this is true and fascinatingly bizarre! In fact, it is very common for some newborns to urinate a pixie Dust-pee. The latter has even a medical term and it is often referred to it as ‘’brick-dust ‘’.
According to Donna Murray, newly born babies urine can sometimes contain acid crystals, which affect the color of the urine and make it look like vivid red, pink, and even orange-colored powder.
That’s not all as you might also need to know that the food that the mother consumes while breastfeeding might also change the color of the baby’s urine.
#2 – You See Everything Through The Lens Of A Smeary Camera
According to experts at the American Optometric Association, the newborn’s vision is literally abuzz with all kind of visual stimulation. So, yes don’t expect the newborn baby to differentiate between objects.
In fact, almost all the images, even those highly contrasted appear as one entity and this is because the newly born babies haven’t yet developed a very deep perception of things around them.
What’s even more interesting is that the newborn babies cannot follow objects until they are 3 months old and even then their vision is not three dimensional until the baby is five months and above!
#3 – You May Have A Temporarily Misshaped Head
Babies are all born with a misshaped head, but, should you not worry as this is a temporary condition. What you should know is when babies are born, their skull plated aren’t fully developed and that’s because the bones aren’t fully formed and hardened.
And it’s only after birth that the un-evenness resolve itself. This might take some time, so there is definitely nothing to worry about!
#4 – You may grow a mustache and eat it
This is really bizarre and for a second might sound like old wives’ tale! But guess what? It is true and even the greatest professionals such as the anthropologist, Stephan Juan swear that this is true and can happen.
As Juan explains that some fetuses can develop some soft, hairy coat that is often re-offered to as ‘’ lanugo’’. The latter is originally a Latin word for ‘’ woolly down’’. According to Juan as the hair falls down, the fetuses ingest it and then it reappears after birth in their first bowel movement.
#5 – You Will Be Totally Coved In A Way White Substance
We are all born this way and every newborn baby is shellacked with a white waxy substance. The latter forms in the womb as a kind of water-barrier that can help the skin remain shellacked and prevent its wrinkling and pruning.
In addition to this, this substance is also beneficial for the mamas’ as it facilitates their labor experience and makes it smoother and less painful!
#6 – You May Have Already Developed Culinary Tastes
If you think that a sophisticated palate can only be developed through exposure to varied cuisines, then, you might change your mind. In fact, many researchers expose that many babies have actually developed some interesting culinary tastes before they have even had their first spoonful of pure healthy veggies and fresh fruits.
In fact, this is not surprising at all as according to the bio-psychologist, Julie Mennella, fetuses do swallow about 1 liter of amniotic fluid a day during their last trimester. So, taking into consideration that amniotic fluid carries all the flavors of food that the mother consumes, this does seem to be possible!
#7 – You are kept warm thanks to ‘’ Brown fat’’
When the baby is still in the mother’s womb, he is happy kicking and tumbling. He is feeling all warm and healthy but once he comes out to this world, he seems to be instantly exposed to cold weather. Hence, the only thing that can keep him warm is brown fat and thyroid levels, said Dr. Auerbach.
Dr. Auerbach added saying that babies are born with very high levels of thyroid and all they need to activate their natural heating is the adrenaline of birth and the exposure to room temperature.
#8 – You Might Not See Much, But Definitely, You Will Hear Much
Experts say that right after 4 months gestation, the baby’s hearing starts to shape up and they can hear you quite perfectly. That’s why it is always a good idea to sing for them and talk to them.
Surprisingly, fetuses can hear better than their own mothers and this is because they are more close to the inner sanctum system of bodily sound itself. So, yes this is not magic but it is amazingly impressive!
#9 – You Are In Pain When You Are Being Born But No One Knows How Much
This might really surprise you but not only the mother that goes through pain during childbirth but also the baby! Traveling from the mom’s womb is definitely not a comfortable journey for the baby or an entertaining picnic. So, as long as you don’t remember how much it hurts to be born, be thankful you are reading this and smiling!
