Nevertheless, researchers at Cornell University revealed that mascots on most cereal boxes are specifically designed to make direct eye contact with kids.
They gaze down at them at an angle of 9.67 degrees on average. Furthermore, the researchers found that this eye contact establishes subconscious feelings of connection and trust toward the brand. For instance, in an experiment using Trix cereal, children liked the cereal better when the rabbit on the box made eye contact.
