Eggs do not belong in the freezer. Do you know how liquid expands when it turns solid? That’s exactly how raw eggs will expand when they’re frozen, the thing that can cause the shell to break. (In fact, this is the reason why you need to opt for appropriate containers and allow a little extra space when storing any liquids in the freezer.) Not to mention that your freezer will be filled with the nasty smell of rotten eggs. Also, frozen yolks will become gummy when thawed. The eggs are better off being stored in the main body of your refrigerator.

#7 – Canned goods

If you place the can in the freezer, the liquid inside is going to expand once frozen, which will cause the can to crack or even explode! (You sure don’t want to experience that.) Furthermore, canned foods that are frozen accidentally could put your health at risk. The USDA recommends checking out whether the can has rusted or burst, and in case the can is swollen, you should thaw it but inspect it to ensure it still looks and smells normal before eating. If you really need to freeze whatever is inside the can, transfer the goods to freezer-safe and airtight containers.

Not all veggies can handle the being placed in the freezer, particularly the ones with high water content. Watery vegetables should never be put in your freezer because when they’re defrosted, they will lose both consistency and flavor. These veggies include salad greens, cucumbers, potatoes, and radishes. You will certainly throw them away after seeing what they look like after thawing. Basically, they’ll be wasted.

#5 – Badly Packaged Food

You have to make sure that your food is in airtight or in properly wrapped containers before you place it in the freezer, otherwise, it may develop freezer burn. Although food which is afflicted with freezer burn can still be safe to eat, its color, smell, quality, and texture will be badly affected.
