Any badly packaged food that’s left in the freezer will certainly look far less appetizing when you thaw it. Always recheck if the containers are properly sealed before putting them in the freezer (or anywhere else.)

#4 – Hot Food

It’s often extremely tempting to simply put your hot meal leftovers directly into the freezer once you’ve finished eating, and then close the door too rapidly so you won’t feel guilty about it. But it’s actually crucial to wait until the food has fully cooled down before you place it in the freezer. In fact, freezing food while it’s still hot will increase the freezer’s temperature and will eventually cause other food to partially defrost, resulting in a fast growth and spread of bacteria. Always cool your leftovers before you freeze them.
#3 – Thawed food
Freezing thawed food once again could make you seriously sick. During the process of thawing, the microorganisms that didn’t die at low temperatures develop. So if you came to refreeze the food while it’s defrosting, the number of bacteria will increase and reach alarming and harmful levels. However, if you desperately need to re-freeze thawed food, you’ll need to cook it after thawing, then, you can re-put it in the freezer since the bacteria would have been destroyed during the cooking process.

#2 – Breadcrumbs

Breadcrumbs also shouldn’t be placed in the freezer. Of course, various recipes require breadcrumbs and it can be difficult to tell how much you’ll need before you start. So when you end up with a larger amount, you’re often tempted to store them for the next recipe by placing them in the freezer, which is a common mistake.
You need to know that breadcrumbs tend to become soft and develop an unpleasant texture (pasty) when placed in the freezer, so you should better make new and fresh ones for each time. This is also applies for dishes with breadcrumbs toppings. Defrost the food, then re-make the crumb topping.
