This preservative is used in mouthwash, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, and food, also, it’s also found in products labeled as ‘all natural’. (This is really disappointing!)

Although benzoic acid is a naturally occurring salt in certain foods, sodium benzoate is artificially produced in labs. In fact, benzoic acid has been shown to cause severe damage to human DNA. Moreover, it has been associated with many other health problems, including stroke, kidney disease, asthma attacks, and hypertension.

4. Propyl Gallate

Propyl Gallate can be found in processed meat products, cereals, potato sticks, soup bases, chewing gum, and vegetable oils. Dangerously, it’s linked to several health problems, including stomach and colon cancers, kidney and liver damage, and stomach irritation.

According to some scientists, this preservative can interfere with hormones, leading to neurological and reproductive problems. Furthermore, there is a possibility of other damaging effects that propyl gallate might have on the human hormones, but more research is needed. It’s best to simply avoid propyl gallate, as a precautionary measure.

5. Aspartame

This preservative is an artificial sweetener that is widely known for being a dangerous excitotoxin. The Health and Human Services Department claim that there are about 92 negative effects liked to aspartame consumption. Symptoms include muscle spasms, heart problems, migraines, depression, nausea, and anxiety.

In animal experiments, aspartame consumption leads to the formation of holes in the brains of mice. Although the FDA has declared this preservative as safe to consume, aspartame can still ruin your health.

6. Monosodium Glutamate (MSG)

Monosodium glutamate (MSG) is one of the most feared food preservatives. It is used as a flavor enhancer to a variety of products. In fact, MSG is an excitatory neurotransmitter, which means it causes extreme stimulation of nerve cells.
