Moreover, research revealed that lack of sleep is linked to weight gain due to too much hunger. How does it happen? Natalie Rizzo, MS, RD, suggests that you should do nothing while hungry, especially sleep. It’s better to have a feeling of satiety during the majority of your day, including bedtime.

When hunger strikes, it can prevent you from getting a good night’s rest (which can make you gain more weight), while a tiny snack before bed can save your night and also help improve weight loss.

According to studies, eating small and nutrient-dense snacks (about 150 calories) does not impact your weight. The combination of exercise and a small, healthy snack before bed has been proven to boost weight loss efforts, White explains.

To find out whether or not you should eat anything before going to bed, try to rate your hunger from 1 to 10. If you’ve got 5 or below, experts recommend drinking a glass of water and go to bed. And if your hunger rate is 6 or higher, then you should have a satisfying snack (between 100 and 200 calories.)
