This is the Truth about Going to Bed Hungry and Weight Loss

Last Updated on January 7, 2021

Many people try to lose weight by having their last meal early in the evening and going to bed on an empty stomach. But does it really work? Experts will tell you whether this is really a worthwhile weight loss strategy.

Some people actually believe that going to bed hungry is the key to losing those annoying pounds quickly and effectively. This doesn’t necessarily mean canceling dinner, but stopping your calorie-intake at a specific time of late evening or night.

Lisa Davis, Ph.D., LDN adds that eating a large meal late at night has been shown to boost the risk of cardiometabolic disease and obesity.

Lisa Davis explains that, in fact, going to bed just a little bit hungry can be beneficial since it helps maintain hormones like insulin at a low level, which can make the weight loss process easier. However, going to bed immediately after eating a large dinner has the opposite effect.
