How to Overcome a Workday with No Sleep

Last Updated on January 7, 2021

#3 – Avoid Heavy Meals

Avoid Heavy Meals

You should avoid eating large meals, junk food, or carbohydrates-rich goodies. Consuming such foods is going to make you more tired and likely to fall asleep pretty much anywhere. Choose lighter meals that are rich in protein rather than carbs, and try to eat foods that contain tyrosine.

Some great food options to consider on a tired day include fish, chicken, yogurt, fruits, veggies, and whole grains. These foods will help you stay alert and won’t slow you down, unlike heavy foods.

#4 – Go Outside

Go Outside

The open fresh air is another wonderful way to help you survive a day with lack of sleep. A sunny day would be your lucky day since sunlight is proven to help you combat tiredness through providing your body with vitamins D and B. Moreover, small doses of sunlight can significantly boost your mood, increase your ability to focus, and improve your immune system.

When you don’t get enough sleep, your immune system gets weaker. In case you don’t have enough time to enjoy the sunny outdoors, try sitting next to a window or at least in a room where light is intensely bright.

#5 – Take a Cold Shower

Take a Cold Shower

Taking a warm shower will help relax your body while taking a cold one will help stimulate it. Of course, placing yourself under the cold water will shock you, but this sudden shock is exactly you need to wake up.

Just one cold shower before you leave your home to work is enough to give you that needed extra push. What if you don’t have time for a quick shower? Keep splashing cold water on your face throughout the day whenever possible.
