#17 – Photophobia
Photophobia, aka light sensitivity, is a condition that makes you irritated or anxious when the sun is shining, and it affects 10-20 percent of the population.
In fact, this happens when the nerves that connect the eye to the brain become too sensitive to light, resulting in anxiety disorder, inflammation, and migraines.
#18 – Dehydration
If sitting out in the sun makes you feel exhausted, then you’re probably suffering from dehydration. In other words, dehydration occurs when the water exits your body more than it comes in. Dehydration can cause nausea, exhaustion, dizziness, and even death.
#19 – Solar urticaria
Although hives are mostly caused by stress, they can also result from UV light, as stated by the American Academy of Dermatology. This condition is also called Solar urticaria, and it can create burning rashes and welts. However, it never really lasts more than 1 day.
#20 – Birth defects
You should avoid the tanning salon most of the time, but even more when you’re pregnant! Studies from the American Pregnancy Association have found that UV rays reduce folic acid levels. In fact, folic acid is crucial when it comes to preventing birth defects in the first trimester.
