When you think about depression and stress, you immediately associate it with adults and never with kids. But it’s time we change this common belief because there are alarming statistics of kids suffering from depression.
It’s more common than you think! Children as young as 6 are getting stressed and depressed and it’s time parents know more about this bitter truth.
Some argue that kids cannot experience depression since they never have adult-like problems and pressures. Remember how seemingly silly things used to torment you as

That’s how children have their own definitions and set of problems that can prompt depression. Also, it can be running in the family, especially if one of the parents has already suffered from clinical depression.
Psychologists suggest not dismissing everything as mood swings or emotional outbursts, as you could be dealing with something deeper and darker. Most parents never link depression to kids expecting the problems to simply fade away as they grow up.
Therefore, it goes unnoticed and untreated, which is very dangerous because sometimes it’s too late for help, leading to suicidal tendencies. The key is early diagnosis and treatment.
