When onions are placed in the fridge, the moisture will turn them soft and thus useless for consumption. Moreover, too much moisture will improve the growth of harmful bacteria and mold.
8. Coffee
Coffee can absorb some of the smells of other products and thus lose its unique flavor. The best option is to keep it somewhere dark and cool, where it can preserve its best qualities. However, you can store larger amounts of coffee in the freezer.
9. Olive oil
Olive oil will attain harder consistency when put at a cold temperature. It is recommended to keep olive oil at temperatures between 12 and 16°C (53 and 60°F), and to keep it away from sun light.
10. Honey
When you store honey in the fridge, the moisture and cold boost the speed of its crystallization, which results in rapid loss of its taste and healthy benefits. However, if this food is stored in a firmly sealed jar at room temperature, its nutrients will remain good almost forever.
11. Tomatoes
The fridge is a very bad place to store tomatoes, since the cold air stops its ripening process. In low temperature, the taste and texture of tomatoes will be badly affected and will become mushy.
12. Bread
Many people think that storing bread in the fridge will keep it fresh, but it actually dry out and turn stale. If you have extra amount of bread, you can always make some delicious crunchy bread chips from it.
13. Eggplants
Eggplants are highly sensitive to cold temperature. If kept in the fridge, they will become soft and pitted on the surface. The best storage site for eggplants is in a regular bowl at room temperature.
