You know how a kid can get easily fooled by colors and cute sounds that some toys make? It takes them half a second to be convinced that they need that colorful specific toy. Now, would you believe me that the same still happens to us, as adults?
When we go to the grocery store, we get easily manipulated by the beautiful packages, the manufacturer’s commercials, and the popularity of the product. But, if we see what ingredients these products were made of, we will be terrified.
There are many countries that were aware of the dangers of some of these products so they banned them completely from their country, but others still have them on their shelves, like it is no big deal. Here are the shocking reasons why these 9 products were banned.
#1 – Kinder Surprise
Everyone loves that egged-shaped chocolate and the wonders it hides in its heart. But since 1938, Kinder Surprise was banned from the USA. This product was found to contain a non-edible element, so the government had to make a step to protect the children and adults from this “choking hazard”.
However, and just a few years ago, inventive manufacturers were capable to circumvent the law to get the Kinder Surprise chocolate back to the US market.
#2 – Artificial Dyes
People started to use chemical dyes a lot more often within the past 50 years. In fact, the number of usages was increased by 500%, which is a scary percentage because these products are harming people’s health.
These additives can cause allergy, hyperactivity, and increases the risks of getting cancer. So Europe took a stand and banned them completely. The markets were obligated to remove them completely from their shelves or replace them with natural ones.
#3 – GMO
In 2015, many European countries banned GMO products completely because they were found to cause toxicity, allergenicity, and reduce the nutritional value of the products. The scary thing about GMO is the fact that not only vegetables and fruits can be genetically modified, but animal products, too.
So just because GMO is not banned in your country doesn’t mean that you can’t ban it from your home. Remember that your family’s health and safety comes first!
#4 – Chicken Antibiotics
Tyson Foods is one of the biggest meat manufacturing American companies, and it delivered chicken meat internationally until it was announced that they inject steroids, antibiotics, ketamine, and anti-inflammatory drugs to their chicken meats.
Russia, Norway, Australia, and Europe banned any delivery from this company. But luckily, Tyson Foods excluded the use of all these items recently. So maybe it is safe to consume their chicken now!
#5 – Bread with baking powder
In order for a bread to stay beautiful and soft for the longest time possible, people inject it with potassium bromate, which is a baking powder. This ingredient can cause skin rashes, headaches, and many problems with digestion.
Sadly, this ingredient was found to be used by many companies and the most commercials ones, so Europe, China, and Canada banned it completely. So, make sure to know the ingredients of the bread before you purchase it.
#6 – Farmed Salmon
Australia and New Zealand had to ban Salmon that grows on farms because these fishes had to live on a strict diet that includes nothing but antibiotics and elements that increase caloricity. These countries found out that these salmon have no healthy elements at all, so they banned them.
In order to get all the health benefits from these fish, stay far away from all the farmed ones. There are some studies suggest that consuming farmed fishes could potentially lead to eyesight damages, too!
#7 – Sports Drinks
The actual drink is not technically bad or banned, but it contains a specific ingredient that is used to enhance the drink’s color and block the bad smell. BVO (E-443), the vegetable oil is very toxic. In fact, it can actually develop prostate and breast cancer.
Europe and Japan were the first to discover this so they had to ban that element. However, if the energy drink doesn’t contain E-443, then it is okay to consume it because the product alone contains minerals, vitamins, and many other healthy elements.
#8 – Food with Fat substitute
Many products like potato chips contain Olestra, which is a synthetical fat substitute that has zero calories. This “fat-free” ingredient could be labeled on the products as “light”. However, it is still a chemical that can harm one’s health dangerously.
Once it enters the body, it will lead it to have a poor absorption of essential vitamins. Any product that contains this fat substitute is completely banned in Europe and Canada.
#9 – Milk
There are some things happening in the “backstage” of all companies that may shock you to the bones. Let’s take milk for example; in order to get more of it, the workers give the cows a growth hormone, and most of this happens in the USA.
If this hormone was consumed, there will be an increased risk of cancer and cardiovascular diseases. So this is why this milk was banned from Japan, Norway, New Zealand, Australia, Switzerland, and 29 European countries.
Which ones of these products that shocked you the most? Feel free to tell us your thoughts about all these products and which ones should be banned in the USA.
