It is very important to look good, smell good, and be alert before you go to work. Otherwise, you will give a bad impression and eventually make the people in your work environment create a negative image of you. This will consequently lead to serious work issues that can even interfere with your personal success.
Hence, not only you need to take care of your physical appearance but also watch out the food you allow in your stomach! Surprisingly, there are some foods that will make you stink bad and leave you in a brain foggy haze!
#1 – Garlic And Onions
These food items are extremely beneficial! In fact, they have some amazing nutritional and healing properties. However, eating them before going to work is not a good idea! They can give you bad breath and unpleasant body odor and that’s due to the compounds they contain!
Garlic and onions contain a chemical known as allicin. The latter breaks down into sulfur compounds and come out in your breath, gas, and sweat. This way, you’d better take them when your body has time to process them!
#2 – Coffee and Alcohol
Coffee and alcohol are better avoided before work! Well, everyone is quite familiar with the bad breath that both beverages can cause and that’s because they reduce the saliva flow and dry out the mouth, which eventually allows bacteria that cause bad breath to thrive!
Alcohol can also cause unpleasant body odor as it metabolizes. In fact, when your body breaks down alcohol, it becomes acetaldehyde, which explains why you stink as you sweat! Yes, the smell pours out your pores. The best thing to do to avoid all this is to stop drinking heavily!
#3 – Fish
Some people might develop fish breath and fishy body odor after consuming fish. And this is truer for people whose bodies fail to break down trimethylamine due to a genetic disorder known as trimethylaminuria.
Therefore, the trimethylamine ends up on their urine, breath, and sweat. Keep your coworkers happy and avoid smelling fishy by avoiding the consumption of fish before work time!
#4 – Meat
According to an interesting study, meat can make men’s body odor stinky and more intense. The study also exposes that women who sniffed body odor from men who ate meat and men who didn’t for some couple of weeks found the latter category, say those who didn’t eat meat had a more attractive body odor.
Well, this definitely doesn’t mean that you have to become a vegetarian!
#5 – Beans, Peas, and Whole Grains
Increasing your fiber daily intake may cause your body to become temporarily flatulent. Therefore, you will end up struggling with the gas effect for some couple of weeks.
However, always remember that moderation is the key to a healthy body! Still, it’s good to note that your vegetarian diet is far healthier than meat!
#6 – Cruciferous Vegetables
These veggies are considered to be super foods that are packed with essential vitamins and vital nutrients. Therefore, including them in your daily diet is a must!
The only problem with these foods is that they contain fiber, which is known for the production of methane bacteria. That’s why you might smell methane on your breath and sweat too!
#7 – Gas-Producing Foods
food items such as sorbitol, fructose, and lactose are widely known as gas producing foods. Therefore, controlling your daily intake of these foods is a smart idea to avoid the bad breath and the stinky body odor!
Fructose, for instance, can be found in honey, some vegetables, and even some drinks. Lactose is found in milk while sorbitol is often present in foods that are designed for diabetics.
Also, starchy food, including wheat, corn, and potatoes can cause gas. So the less you consume them, the better and healthier for you!
#8 – Gluten Products
Gluten is a suspect in a number of diseases. It is often found in foods that contain wheat. In fact, one of the main issues that were found to be associated with the consumption of gluten is brain fog.
So, in case you notice that you are suffering from this issue, try to bring new changes to your diet and especially your breakfast and you will definitely see impressive improvement. Gluten is strongly present in foods like pancakes, bread, pastries, and muffins!
#9 – Sugar
It’s true that eating sugar can make your body more active and energetic but this energy will disappear after a short time and you will end up feeling a brain fog.
This happens because the yeast thrives on sugar and the more you consume, the more lazy and tired you will feel. To feel better, you’d better skip consuming sugar before work.
#10 – Bananas and Cherries
These fruits taste so good and plus they are very healthy, still, eating them before heading off to work is a big mistake! Bananas are high in magnesium and contain tryptophan, which is a precursor to melatonin while cherries contain melatonin.
The latter compound is considered to be very effective in helping you sleep that’s why some doctors often recommend drinking a cup of cherry juice for their patients that are struggling with chronic insomnia.
