We all try to avoid eating too much fat as it doesn’t only lead to obesity but also raises the risk of serious health conditions like high LDL cholesterol in the blood which causes type 2 diabetes, inflammations, stroke, and heart disease.

But which types of fats are we talking about here? Because there are healthy and unhealthy fats that you should differentiate between.

Unhealthy fats include saturated fats like beef and beef fat, pork, poultry, butter, whole milk, and ice cream, all of which may make you suffer all of the above if consumed in excess.

Whereas, unsaturated fats found in foods like avocados, nuts, vegetable oils, olive oils, oily fish, and dark chocolate, etc., are healthy fats that your body is in dire need of.

If you find yourself always thinking about food, you’re either bored or haven’t eaten fats in a while!

Feeling hungry too often might be a sign of inadequate fat in your body, because fats play a role in slowing your digestion and promoting the leptin hormone that makes you feel full.

Studies have shown that people who follow a low-fat diet to lose weight experience an increase in craving high-fat and high-sugar foods. Meanwhile, people with obesity who followed a low-carb diet, do not experience such craving and do not feel as hungry.

If you want to lose weight, you should probably go for a low-carb diet.

#2 – You’re too fatigued to function

If your energy hits rock bottom and you feel tired almost every day, it’s likely a sign of low fat intake.

Some dietary fats like cheese, whole eggs, and extra-virgin olive oil are crucial to your body energy, they keep your body warm, help you absorb nutrients that produce important hormones, and support cell growth.

It’s only natural to have very low energy and feel fatigued when you don’t eat enough of these fats.
You should turn your diet into a balanced one by eating more healthy fats and help your body stay strong and function at its best.

Many factors can cause your skin to become dry such as hot or cold weather, unsuitable soaps, dehydration, or low-fat diet which may go unnoticed.

Fats help lubricate your skin so when you don’t eat enough of them, your skin dries out and becomes prone to premature wrinkles, so if your skin is dry and you’re aware that you don’t eat enough fats, you should eat more of the essential fatty acids: Omega-3 fatty acids.

Omega-3 fatty acids include alpha-linolenic acid, docosahexaenoic acid, and eicosapentaenoic acid and are mainly found in fish and plant oils like soybean oil, canola oil, walnut oil, and mustard oil.

Omega-3 fatty acids fight wrinkles and inflammation and protect your skin’s collagen.

#4 – Your brain is foggy

Again, you’re probably not eating enough healthy, especially foods with omega-3 fatty acids, if your brain is often hazy or foggy.

Omega-3 fatty acids are vital to your brain’s normal function; they preserve the health of cell membranes and allow for normal communication between your brain and the rest of your nervous system throughout your life.

The feeling of fogginess might be a sign that you need the omega-3 elements in your system.
Other causes of brain fog may include stress, depression, lack of proper sleep, hormonal changes, or medications like chemotherapy drugs, anti-anxiety medication, and stress medications.

Without enough fats, mainly omega-3 fatty acids, women may experience irregular menstruation or even absence of menstruation that may extend for months.

When you have very little fat in your body, many of your hormonal functions are hindered including estrogens which are crucial to reproductive development.

Estrogen hormones are derived from cholesterol and when you have a low fat intake, your cells no longer convert cholesterol into estrogen.

If you’re underweight and experiencing this symptom, you should check with a gynecologist and start eating more dietary fats if you don’t.

If you eat your fair share of healthy fats in addition to proteins and vitamin-rich foods and exercise regularly, you should be fine. Make sure to keep track of what you’re eating and stay away from saturated fats!
