Last Updated on January 7, 2021

We all know that doughnuts and pizza won’t do any favors for your health, but what are the foods that are too unhealthy that a government decides to ban them altogether?

It’s true that we love food and can get almost any desired goodie at restaurants, markets, farms, and grocery stores, that we never think there might be some foods that are totally banned.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had banned many foods from being sold, eaten, or imported nationwide due to their low safety levels, (even though it has different regulations when it comes to allowing additives and chemicals in food than other parts of the world.)

Let’s take a look at this list of the top 10 foods that are surprisingly banned in the United States.

Haggis is a kind of pudding made from the liver, lungs, and heart of a sheep, combined with oatmeal and beef and seasoned with cayenne peppers, onions, and other spices.

This combination is then packed into a sheep’s stomach and boiled. It is usually served along with mashed potatoes and turnips. In fact, haggis is the national dish of Scotland.

At present, haggis is banned from being imported into the US. In 1971, the United States banned all foods that are composed of animal lungs. Scotland has attempted many times to influence the US into lifting the ban on this food and changing federal food safety regulations, but they have failed each time.

The beluga sturgeon is the largest of its kind, measuring more than 4.5 m/15 ft long and weighing more than 900 kg/2,000 lb. Surprisingly, it can take up to 25 years for the female beluga to become mature and able to produce eggs.

Beluga caviar has different color shades, varying from dark to light gray. Their pearls have a mild buttery flavor and are the extremely delicate. In 2005, the US banned beluga caviar from import because of excessive fishing.
