Marijuana, Grass, weed, or whatever you like to call it is the world’s most popular drug. People around the world use it for different purposes but most of them smoke it for the sake of feeling good, overexcited, and happy! But What does marijuana actually does to our brains, bodies, and overall health?
#1 – Marijuana Can Make You Feel Really Good
According to studies and researches, marijuana can make us feel good. Surprised? No worries, you are not the only one! In fact, studies expose that marijuana contains an active ingredient called, tetrahydrocannabinol or THC.
The latter is found to interact with the brain’s reward system, which is in return primed to respond to things that makes us feel good and improve our mood, such as eating and making love. So, when we actually take that happiness dose of marijuana and feel the overexcitement, our brain tends to create a feeling of euphoria.
This is also why many other studies think that this happiness feeling that marijuana can cause us to feel is not always positive as excessive marijuana use can cause problems for many people.
Let’s say the more we trigger that feeling of euphoria, the less we may feel during other important and rewarding experiences.
#2 – Marijuana Can Also Cause Your Heart To Race
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuser, inhaling marijuana can cause the acceleration of heartbeats, especially in the first few minutes. This increase in heart rate can be between 20 and 50 beats per minute and can also last from 20 minutes to 3 hours.
However, because of insufficient evidence, the new report couldn’t support or refute the idea that marijuana can increase the risks of developing a heart attack. But the same report found some limited evidence that smoking, in general, can lead to heart issues, especially the risk of getting a heart attack.
