It is dangerous if the swelling happens only in one leg because there could be a blood clot that has formed in a large vein, and when it starts to break down, a part of it could travel to the lung and cause a pulmonary embolism, which can be seriously dangerous.

However, the swollen legs could be a sign of a very serious condition if it comes with shortness of breath, and you should never ignore it.

If you have been experiencing neck and shoulder pain constantly, then it may be an early sign of coronary disease. According to the co-director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, Dr. David Fischman, this pain is connected with the blood pathways. It starts with the chest, then spread towards the neck and shoulder area.

He said that this symptom is more common among women who experience no chest discomfort with upper body pain.
