Healthy habits and cancer-fighting foods can seriously lower the risk of getting cancer. If you maintain a healthy lifestyle including diet, exercise and avoidance of tobacco product, you can build up a great defense line against cancer as well as other diseases.
#1 – Filter your tap water
Filtered tap water will reduce your exposure to known carcinogens and hormone-disrupting chemicals, which means less chances to getting cancer, as it is safer than bottled water. It is also recommended to store water in glass or stainless steel instead of plastic bottles, to avoid chemical contaminants.
#2 – Stop topping your tank
If the fuel is carelessly spilled, it can foil the pump’s vapor recovery system, which is made to keep toxic chemicals out of the air. Thus they can come in contact with your skin or get into your lungs.
#3 – Marinate meat first
Processed meats can contain cancer-causing elements (heterocyclic amines and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) , which form when meat is seared at high temperatures. It is better to cut down on grilled meat, and if you can’t do without grilling, try to soak meat in thyme or rosemary (antioxidant-rich spices) for no less than one hour before cooking.
#4 – Caffeine. Every. Day.
Coffee lovers will be happy to hear that, a British study announced that people who drank up to 5 cups of coffee every day, had 40% decreased risk of brain cancer. In comparison with those who drank the least. The every day coffee habit can also reduce risks of throat and oral cancer. It was declared that coffee is even a stronger protector against cancer than tea.
#5 – Water down your risk
Drinking a lot but not too much water, as well as other liquids, can decrease the risk of bladder cancer by helping to flush them through the bladder faster. Try to drink up to 8 cups of liquids a day.
