Health pages and associations are warning against eating this fish based on numerous studies and tests conducted on the tilefish sold in the US stores and the type of waters they come from. The recommended monthly intake of this fish is 100 g for men, while women and children should completely avoid consuming tilefish.
8. Sea Bass
Sea bass contains an immense amount of mercury, particularly when it’s cooked and served as fillet because you actually get pangasius or some other cheaper fish instead. Protect your health and opt for other safer kinds of fish.
The recommended monthly intake of uncontaminated sea bass is 200 g for adults and 100 g for children.
9. Dollarfish
Dollarfish, or commonly known as oilfish, contains a waxy substance called gempylotoxin, which is not metabolized at all. In fact, this toxin doesn’t cause much harm, but it can still cause indigestion.
This kind of fish should be either grilled or fried in order to lower the levels of gempylotoxin. Dollarfish is particularly dangerous for individuals with digestive problems.
