One of the scariest consequences, especially for people who already experienced an overactive thyroid and were overweight as well, is the weight gain that might happen once the thyroid has been treated. Some patients will completely put on all the pounds they’ve lost after they are cured and they may even gain more weight than before the disease started.

It is important to consider making lifestyle changes in order to manage inability to lose weight or unwanted weight gain. This means decreasing the number of daily calories and boosting your physical activity.

Under-active thyroid, or hypothyroidism, is very common and often remains undetected for several years. It mostly causes fatigue, but many people relate it to poor sleeping habits or a busy lifestyle.
