7 Things You Need to be Cleaning More Often

Can openers can get so grimy as well as rusty that even a trip in the dishwasher wouldn’t remove the rust that builds up around gears.

To properly clean your can opener, soak it in white vinegar for a few hours or more (depending on how rusty it is) and then take an old toothbrush and scrub away the rust. Next, rinse with regular dish soap, let dry, and finally, run a Q-tip dipped in mineral oil to basically prevent rust.

3. Bed Pillows

Did you know that where you put your head every night can be full of dead dust mites?

Luckily, you can easily throw your pillows in the washing machine and keep them clean.

To clean your pillows, you should use a small amount of detergent and don’t forget to check the label first.

You can even add tennis balls together with your pillows inside the washing machine to help keep them fluffy.

2. Refrigerator handle

The refrigerator handle is another thing that you touch every day all day.

In fact, even if there are microscopic pieces of food on it, it can feed bacteria and viruses so they multiply every day more.

To clean your refrigerator handle (or door too), rub it well with a disinfectant wipe up and down, with more pressure and focus in any tiny grooves. A disinfectant wipe stays on the surface longer than a disinfectant spray.

You should do so once a week, or every day if someone in your house is sick.

1. Door handles and knobs

Everyone entering or leaving your house or a room in your house will help the germs on doorknobs and handles to grow and thrive.

These germs can cause the flu, colds, and other illnesses.

To clean your door handles and knobs, you should give them all a good wipe with a disinfectant solution at least once every week, so you can cut down the chances of getting sick.
