16 Cancer Causing Foods You Are Eating

You probably never think, while eating, about what your food is actually made of and how healthy it really is.

With over 1 million people diagnosed with some type of cancer in just one year, maybe it’s about time to look at our foods contents in order to find out what’s behind the huge number of new cancer patients.

1.Canned Tomatoes

Although fresh tomatoes are actually regarded to be a cancer-fighting food, the canned ones are nothing like it. In fact, the lining with almost all canned foods is made with a chemical called bisphenol-A (BPA), which was shown to affect the genes function inside the brain of rats.

The high acidity in tomatoes can be exceptionally dangerous because it seems to make BPA leach from the lining of the can into the tomatoes! The BPA level can be so high that you should consider not feeding them to children. Even the FDA agrees and is concerned about this chemical, as it is supporting efforts to replace or at least minimize the amounts found in canned foods.

For your safety, avoid cans and try to cook fresh or purchase glass bottles.

2.Soda Pop

A recent study has proven that people who consumed more than one soda a day had a greater risk of stroke than people who don’t drink it. Sodas are loaded with sugar and are an empty source of calories, causing weight gain and contributing to the nationwide epidemic of obesity.

Consuming large amounts of these sugary drinks causes blood sugar spikes, resulting in insulin resistance and inflammation. Soda is basically the main reason behind gastro-esophageal reflux disease. Although these drinks aren’t a direct cause of ulcers, they can irritate make people who have ulcers suffer more.

It’s no wonder that soda pop is linked to cancer since it contains artificial colorings and food chemicals such as derivative 4-methylimidazole (4-MI).

3.Farmed Salmon

Fish is among the healthiest foods ever, but farmed salmon should particularly be avoided. Over 60% of the salmon consumed in the US is farm raised, where they’re fed unnatural diets and are contaminated with antibiotics, pesticides, chemicals, and other carcinogens.

Due to their diet, the healthy omega-3 in salmon decreases. According to studies, farmed salmon consists of high levels of mercury, PCB’s, and cancer-causing dioxins.
It is better to buy canned salmon or for labels that state the fish is wild sockeye salmon.

4.Processed Meats

Processed meats, such as sausages, bacon, hot dogs, bologna or pimento loaf, and more. According to researchers, the excessive salt and chemicals that are used to make processed meats are damaging to your health and may increase the risk of early death.

All these processed meats consist of many chemicals and preservatives, notably sodium nitrates, which give them the fresh and appealing look but that actually are known carcinogens. What’s even more dangerous are smoking meats, as they pick up tar from the smoking process. Yes, tar, the exact same deadly ingredient as in cigarette smoke.

5.Microwave Popcorn

Those little bags of popcorn can be extremely dangerous to your health.

Microwave popcorn bags are lined with a chemical known as perfluorooctanoic (PFOA), which is a toxin particularly linked to infertility in women. Multiple studies in lab animals and humans prove that exposure to PFOA significantly raises the risk of liver, bladder, kidney, pancreas and testicular cancers.

Now, let’s see what’s inside the bags. Almost all manufacturers use soybean oil along with various preservatives such as propyl gallate, a chemical causing skin rashes and stomach issues. No matter how many times they said it’s natural, you can bet they’re not using organic corn.

6.Potato Chips

Potato chips are cheap and tasty snacks, but the negative effects they have on your health are totally not worth that little bit of crispy pleasure. They are high in fat and calories, which means quick weight gain. According to a study by the New England Journal of Medicine, eating 1 ounce of potato chips a day resulted in an average 2-pound weight gain in a single year.

Besides being full of trans-fats, they have excessive sodium levels, artificial flavors and colors, and numerous preservatives. Even worse, potato chips are fried in high temperatures to make them crispy but that also create a material called acrylamide, which is a known carcinogen and is found in cigarettes as well.

As a sneaky alternative, when your kids or your stomach demand for chips, you can buy baked potato, tortilla or banana chips.

7.Hydrogenated oils

All hydrogenated oils are vegetable oils that cannot be extracted naturally and must be chemically removed from their source, and then they are frequently colored and deodorized to be more appealing.

All vegetable oils are high in Omega-6 fatty acids, which in excessive amount can cause heart disease and increase the risk of various cancers, particularly skin cancer. Hydrogenated oils influence your cell membranes’ flexibility and structure, which is directly linked to cancer.

Normally, you need a good balance between both Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids. Try to get plenty of Omega 3 every day from salmon, mackerel, grass fed meats, or supplements.

8. Foods that are highly salted, smoked, or pickled

There is overwhelming evidence that eating these kinds of foods highly increases the risk of colorectal cancer and boosts rates of stomach cancer.

9. Highly processed white flours

You may know that white flour is unhealthy, but do you have any idea just how bad it really is for your health? Refining grains destroys all its natural nutrients, and what’s worse is that mills now no longer wait for their flour to be white, they now just bleach it with a chemical called chlorine gas. Chlorine gas is stated as a dangerous irritant that’s unsafe to inhale and can be lethal in case of large quantities.

White processed flour has a high glycemic rate which rapidly raises insulin and blood sugar levels, which can directly lead to diabetes, as well as it probably spreads cancer cells through feeding them directly. Cancerous tumors mainly feed on the sugars in your bloodstream, so you can starve or avoid these tumors by avoiding refined grains.

11. Refined Sugars

Refined sugars are known to spike insulin levels, as well as they are the most cherished food for cancer cells, which promote their growth. Both tumors and cancers use sugars to feed themselves and/or increase in size. They seem to prefer feeding on fructose-rich sweeteners such as high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS).

It is now clear why high-fructose corn syrup is considered highly dangerous. Many popular, mostly processed, food items such as cakes, pies, sodas, cookies, sauces, juices, cereals and more, are filled with refined sugars, particularly in HFCS.

No wonder why cancer rates are higher these days.

12.Artificial Sweeteners

Many people use artificial sweeteners to lose weight or because they’re diabetic and must avoid sugar, but the main problem is that consuming these sweeteners on a regular basis leads to weight gain and does nothing to help those with diabetes.

Artificial sweeteners block your body’s ability to control its daily calorie intake and make it crave even more for sweets. Besides, we’ve already discussed how refined sugars can lead to cancer.

The chemicals that make up these sweeteners, especially aspartame, break down in the human body into a deadly toxin called DKP. When this chemical is processed by your stomach, it produces chemicals that may cause cancer and particularly brain tumors.

13.Diet anything

Diet foods, including diet sodas, frozen foods, and prepackaged foods labeled as ‘diet’ or ‘low fat’, generally consist of aspartame (chemical, artificial sweetener). This chemical was shown to cause heart problems, cancers, birth defects and many other diseases and sicknesses.
Any ‘diet’ food is chemically processed and made from excessive sodium levels, refined ingredients, and artificial flavors and colors to create the good taste. Also, anything artificial is not real food and is not totally safe to consume.

There are also many studies that claim these additives to be addicting for some people, as they trigger that ‘feel good’ section in your brain, just like cocaine! It actually makes sense since addiction can always make providers gain loads of money.

Be smart and eat the only natural diet foods, organic fruits and veggies.

14. Alcohol

Alcohol consumption is the second leading cause of cancer after tobacco. Moderate or low drinking of alcohol can be healthy and may lower risk of heart disease, while excessive drinking is well known to cause stroke, heart failure, and sudden death.

According to an American 14-year study that accompanied the lifestyles of over 200,000 women, postmenopausal women who took one drink a day or less had about 30% increase in breast cancer rates compared to women who didn’t drink at all. Another study on cancer and alcohol use from 27 different countries found that excessive use of alcohol is the primary reason behind liver, colon, esophagus, rectum, and female breast cancers.

For your health’s sake, use alcohol moderately and as less as possible.

15. Red Meat

Red meat lovers should keep calm and know that there is actual evidence showing that red meat is healthy, in small and infrequent amounts. Grass fed beef had conjugated linoleic acid that helps fight against some cancers. While eating red meat every day, even in small amount, can increase the risk of dying from cancer.

A research has shown that eating plenty of red meat improves the risk of colon, breast, and prostate cancer. And is particularly dangerous when it comes to colon cancer, since a study on 150,000 people aged between 50 and 74 showed that the long-term consumption of red meat increased the rate of colon cancer.

You should probably save those steaks for a once in a while treat, as you should also make sure to consume grass-fed and organic beef.

16.Non-organic fruits

Non-organic fruits are contaminated with dangerous pesticides such as atrazine and organophosphates, along with high nitrogen fertilizers.

Atrazine is a weed killer that cause serious health problems, especially in reproductive capabilities, and is banned in European countries (but still used here). A study has shown that when pregnant women drank water contaminated with atrazine, the body weight os their babies went down. Pesticides are toxic chemicals to both humans and insects.

Washing your fruits will not remove all of the residues.
