According to an investigative study by Consumer Reports, five fruit juice brands actually had arsenic levels which surpassed the federal standards of drinking water. In the study, the vast majority of the arsenic found in the juices was inorganic.

In fact, arsenic has been used in kids’ playground equipment as a preservative for pressure-treated lumber. Sadly, it’s now used for their fruit juice.

Food dyes are dangerous additives that are commonly used and can be found in countless food products marketed to children, including beverages, desserts, candies, and cereals. In fact, the FDA allowed the use of nine different colors.

As stated in a report published in The Lancet and other health pages, artificial food dyes boost the risk of hyperactivity in kids, as well as cancer and food allergies.

Furthermore, moderate intake has been associated with the development of tumors in rats. The next time you’re in a supermarket, look for natural food products without any artificial flavors.

Phosphoric acid is an odorless fluid that manufacturers add to children’s beverages to help slow down the growth of bacteria. Otherwise, the bacteria would quickly increase in number because of the huge amounts of sugar in the drinks.

Phosphoric acid is added as a preservative in food products even though it can damage children’s teeth and even soften their growing bones. As stated in a report published in General Dentistry, phosphoric acid with soda is nearly as good for human teeth as battery acid.

MSG is a “flavor enhancer” commonly used in canned vegetables, potato chips, crackers, and soups. What’s truly dangerous about this flavor enhancer is that it can also be found in baby formula and school cafeterias.

Food products with MSG include Chicken Noodle Soup, Campbell’s SpaghettiOs, and packaged dinners. Many health problems have been associated with MSG, including fatigue, headache, obesity, and depression.

In a study published in the journal Obesity involving around 760 healthy Chinese individuals aged between 40 and 59, researchers discovered that MSG consumption is positively linked to weight gain. Weight gain levels were higher in participants who consumed MSG than those who didn’t. Watch out for MSG when shopping, as it’s often not labeled.
